Restraint as a design principle

Most software shouts. Gradients, badges, confetti: it grabs your attention with motion and noise. We built Mitra to do the opposite: keep things calm and clear, the way the best-designed everyday objects do.

Mitra's look is built on that idea. Two typefaces: a warm serif for anything that deserves emphasis, a plain, clean typeface for everything else. Simple, calm colors: charcoal, ivory, deep navy. One warm gold accent, used sparingly, the way a good writer uses italics. Thin lines instead of boxes, open space instead of borders, and one clear action per screen, because a screen that asks for everything ends up asking for nothing.

Motion follows the same idea. Nothing bounces or jumps around. Transitions take about a third of a second and settle smoothly: quick enough to feel responsive, slow enough to feel calm. And if your device is set to reduce motion, Mitra respects that completely.

The result should feel less like a busy app and more like something simple that happens to be smart. Software you barely notice, so you can focus on what it is helping you with.
